Even after exceeding their goal of $86,000, the employees of John Ascuaga’s Nugget Casino Resort plan to continue their fund-raising campaign through November.  The Nugget employees raised more than $100,000 for the biggest percentage increase in the current Annual Giving Campaign so far this year, according to Teri Juhl-Blackett, Vice President of UWNNS, who presented a certificate of appreciation to the employees for their achievement. “The Nugget employees have shown exceptional dedication to our community by working with United Way to make a lasting difference. Year after year, the Nugget raises the bar of its commitment to United Way, and every year they exceed those goals. It’s businesses like the Nugget and our other community supporters that allow us to meet our community’s needs and make a positive impact,” she said.

Among the creative fundraisers the Nugget’s employees developed are:

• Nugget chefs sold raffle tickets to fellow casino employees and raffled off a home-cooked dinner prepared by the chefs.

• The Nugget accounting department sold raffle tickets to cut off the tie of the casino CFO since he is the one who manages casino budgets.

• The Nugget salon raffled off massages and spa packages.
